As part of strengthening the integration between theoretical knowledge and field-based learning, the Department of Forensic Science at Al-Turath University organized an academic visit for its students to the Research Center and Natural History Museum at the University of Baghdad, the visit aimed at providing students with direct exposure to scientific specimens and to introduce them to research and documentation methodologies used in specialized scientific institutions.
During the visit, students were introduced to scientific classification systems and preservation techniques for biological and geological specimens, as well as museum documentation methods used by research institutions in studying and analyzing scientific samples, this experience contributes to enhancing students’ scientific skills and deepening their understanding of the importance of linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications in forensic science and related disciplines.
The scientific program also allowed students to observe a wide range of preserved biological and natural specimens within the museum’s collections, highlighting the role of scientific museums as knowledge laboratories that support research and document biodiversity and environmental legacy.
This academic initiative reflects Al-Turath University’s commitment to developing practical learning experiences for its students, in line with the vision emphasized by Mr. Ali Al-Ogaili, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Turath University, who continuously supports experiential and field-based education aimed at preparing highly qualified graduates capable of applying academic knowledge to serve scientific research and society.
