Trustees' Board

The Board of Trustees of Al-Turath University sponsors the development and enhancement of knowledge in various fields, and strives to offer distinguished and high-quality academic programs for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The Board is committed to preserving Iraqi cultural and social heritage, and encourages purposeful scientific research and innovative scientific experiments, with the aim of spreading a culture of knowledge and science in Iraq.

Members of the Board of Trustees play a pivotal role in providing important contributions and overseeing the University's programs and its financial and material management. They also make significant efforts to secure financial support for the University through cooperation with local, Arab, and international institutions. The powers of the Board of Trustees members include appointing the President of the University to ensure effective and successful leadership that achieves the University's vision and objectives.

Tasks and Powers of the Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees undertakes the following tasks and powers:

  1. Formulating the general policy of the University.
  2. Approving the University's annual and strategic plan based on the recommendation of the University Council, and monitoring its implementation and evaluation.
  3. Evaluating the performance of the University and its leadership in all aspects, including academic, administrative, financial, and infrastructure, and discussing periodically submitted self-assessment reports.
  4. Submitting an annual report on the performance of the University and its President to the Board according to specific criteria.
  5. Appointing vice presidents and deans at the University, and heads of branches, based on the President's recommendation.
  6. Recommending the establishment of colleges, departments, institutes, and scientific centers inside or outside the Kingdom.
  7. Recommending the establishment, merger, or cancellation of academic programs and specializations.
  8. Determining the tuition fees collected by the University from students in various specializations.
  9. Discussing the University's annual budget, its financial statements, and final accounts, and approving them after their endorsement by the University Council, then submitting them to the Board for ratification, along with the auditor's report.
  10. Striving to support the University's financial resources and organize their investment affairs.
  11. Approval for concluding cultural, scientific, and technological cooperation agreements and other agreements between the University and its counterparts inside and outside Iraq.
  12. Recommending to the Board to approve cooperation agreements between the University and its counterparts inside and outside Iraq, or in programs and specializations that lead to the acquisition of academic degrees, provided that special accreditation is obtained.
  13. Discussing draft regulations and submitting them to the Board to complete the procedures for their approval as per due process.
  14. Any other matters related to the University presented by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees that do not fall within the powers of any of the bodies stipulated in the law and applicable legislation at the University.
