Al-Turath University Turns Countering Violent Extremism into Institutional Awareness Project that Manages Diversity & Protects Social Peace

Al-Turath University developed a knowledge-based approach that treats countering violent extremism as a long-term educational and institutional pathway as it sponsored through the Continuing Education Center the National Forum on Countering Violent Extremism with the participation of the Directorate of Intellectual Dialogue the Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights Al-Asr Center for Studies and Public Opinion Polling the International Union for Minority Media and Human Rights and Rushd Foundation for Cultural Development thereby reinforcing the University’s role as a platform that connects knowledge with public policy through coordinated collaborative action grounded in awareness and governance.

The University highlighted that organizing the forum was implemented in line with the directions of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Turath University Mr. Ali Al-Ogaili who emphasizes transforming major societal challenges into scientific dialogue spaces based on analytical understanding and balanced narratives that strengthen social cohesion and equip new generations with critical tools to resist intrusive ideas and safeguard national values.

Al-Turath University reviewed that the forum was attended by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross Iraq Mission alongside a wide spectrum of directors and staff members from human rights departments across state ministries providing an implementation-oriented dimension that connects diagnosis with practice and underscores the importance of institutional integration between official bodies and research and civil entities in building a more stable social environment.

The University confirmed that the opening keynote address was delivered by the Scientific Assistant to the President of Al-Turath University Prof. Dr. Omar Saad Ahmed who stressed that protecting social peace begins with institutional awareness that reframes citizenship as a shared responsibility and positions education and continuous awareness as tools to reduce the drivers of extremism and strengthen society’s capacity to manage diversity effectively adding that the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Ali Al-Ogaili serves as the direct sponsor of this file as a national priority that requires sustained action cumulative awareness and unified institutional effort.

The University added that the forum was attended by academic leadership including the Dean of the College of Science Assist{{dot}} Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Najm Al-Din reflecting the University’s commitment to linking scientific discourse with community responsibility and directing academic expertise toward stability and human development.

Al-Turath University concluded that the forum emphasized the need to sustain awareness and educational programs for younger generations and to institutionalize effective diversity management as a core pillar for safeguarding social and national peace through a culture that advances dialogue rejects violence and treats knowledge as a pathway to cohesion.
