As part of its direction towards consolidating the University's role in confronting national environmental challenges, Al-Turath University hosted a high-level scientific symposium organized by the College of Engineering in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil, on Saturday, with the attendance of University professors and students from the Department of Oil and Gas Refining Engineering who filled the symposium hall in a distinguished scientific interaction.
Oil expert Engineer Salah Mahdi and Dr. Mohammed Fadhel presented a detailed overview in which they discussed the nature of oil pollutants, their sources, and their extended impacts on the environment, along with a scientific analysis of the most prominent derivatives causing environmental degradation in industrial areas. Modern methods adopted by the Ministry of Oil to reduce emissions were discussed, through the application of advanced technologies that are part of the national transition towards green technology.
The two lecturers highlighted the role of universities, especially Al-Turath University, in supporting this direction through applied research that addresses the innovation of solutions based on biological treatments and environmentally friendly materials, thereby contributing to transforming academic knowledge into effective tools for addressing oil challenges.
The symposium constituted an important interactive space for engineering students, demonstrating Al-Turath University's commitment to preparing cadres capable of keeping pace with the next stage of energy sector development, and possessing modern scientific tools that contribute to building a clean environment and a sustainable economy.
