In an academic approach that moves beyond traditional instruction toward the cultivation of awareness, the Department of Architecture at Al-Turath University organized a periodic cultural dialogue session that embodied the university’s vision of the campus as a living intellectual space one that does not merely transmit knowledge, but critically engages with it and connects it to its social and cultural context.

The university reviewed that the session provided an in-depth discussion platform addressing multiple issues related to students and the department, opening thoughtful pathways of dialogue that promote critical thinking and dismantle the separation between academic knowledge and lived human reality, this approach reinforces an advanced concept of the university environment grounded in interaction, responsibility, and meaningful engagement.

For her part, the Head of the Department of Architecture, Engineer Dr. Wasan Makki, explained that these dialogue sessions are part of a deliberate academic policy adopted by the department, aimed at shaping an architecture student capable of understanding, analysis, and active interaction with their surroundings, she emphasized that social and cultural issues are no longer peripheral within architectural education, but rather a structural component in forming the architect’s awareness and future role.

It a significant to mention that this dialogue session reflects a firmly rooted academic orientation at Al-Turath University, one that is based on the integration of knowledge, dialogue, and experience, and that redefines the university’s role as a process of shaping intellect and character not merely the delivery of content within a conscious educational context that places the student at the heart of the academic project.
