Al-Turath University conducted a survey to assess students’ understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with 1,232 students’ responses across various specialties of academic stages.

The university reviewed that the results highlight insightful data on sustainability knowledge within the university: only 47% of students reported being aware of the SDGs’ significance and 35% have a partial knowledge on the sustainable development goals, as well as the rest of the student have no idea about the sustainable development goals.

The university settled several procedures to use this data to develop targeted educational programs, workshops and resources to improve SDG awareness and foster a culture of sustainability on campus via assessing and addressing sustainability literacy, Al-Turath University continues its commitment to support informed and responsible global citizens aligned with goal 4 (Quality Education) and goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Al-Turath highlighted that the results of the opinion poll demonstrate that the need to enhance the knowledge of the students with sustainability education to ensure that all students are equipped with knowledge about the SDGs and their influence on global and local challenges.
