With direct support and a firmly grounded institutional vision from Mr. Ali Al-Ogaili, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the Department of Architecture Engineering at Al-Turath University continued to embed field-based learning as an essential extension of the academic curriculum rather than a post-graduation phase.
In this context, first-year students presented a clear model of early transition from theoretical understanding to applied practice through structured on-site engagement within the University’s facilities and educational locations, the experiences enabled students to encounter architectural concepts in their real spatial, structural, and environmental contexts.
Al-Turath University reviewed that early exposure to practical environments strengthens students’ analytical and observational skills, allowing them to engage with scale, form, space, and materiality as professional tools rather than abstract ideas, the approach establishes a solid foundation upon which advanced architectural competencies are developed.
The University emphasized that integrating field experience at the initial stages of study reflects an educational philosophy focused on shaping architects within their professional environment, fostering confidence, design awareness, and the ability to interpret sites and generate context-sensitive solutions.
