Seminar on Drugs: Between Permissibility and Criminalization and the University's role in prevention and student follow-up

Today, at the Central Library hall, and in cooperation between the Continuing Education Center and the College of Law, a seminar was presented titled ”Drugs: Between Permissibility and Criminalization, and the University as a First Line of Defense for Building Preventive Awareness Against Drugs Among Students” in which Professor of Criminal Law Dr. Zuhair Al-Jadiri affirmed the judiciary's stance on those accused of trafficking or consumption, explaining that the judge asks the accused if they are guilty or not, and then begins trial procedures based on the available evidence.
In the second part of the seminar, Assistant Lecturer Duaa Karim Obais addressed the necessity of monitoring students and paying attention to symptoms that draw attention in users and addicts, such as poor academic performance, isolation, red eyes, and others. She also called for the formation of a committee at the University comprising specialized professors and utilizing the expertise of security and medical agencies from relevant state ministries to monitor and follow up on potential cases of drug promoters and users.
