Department of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technology Engineering The Department of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technology Engineering is an essential part of the field of engineering, focusing on the development, design and operation of refrigeration and air conditioning systems for various industrial, commercial and residential applications. The field of this department is diverse to include the study and application of modern technologies in air refrigeration and conditioning, cooling of materials and liquids, and environmental and humidity control. The department aims at training students to design, operate and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems in effective ways and with the highest standards of quality and safety, as well as the department includes the study and application of modern technologies in the field of renewable energy and sustainability in refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The department’s programs are characterized by providing comprehensive practical training in laboratories equipped with the latest technologies and equipment, as well as training opportunities in industry and related institutions.  The Department of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology Engineering is a vital platform for graduating qualified engineers specialized in the fields of refrigeration and air conditioning, which contributes to meet the diverse needs of the labor market and improving the quality of life in society.

Vision

The Department is keen on teaching students and providing them with experience in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning engineering techniques, whereby the graduate is qualified to be a technical engineer with the ability to deal with air conditioning and refrigeration systems of all types and uses in terms of developing preliminary designs, supervising the installation and repair and maintenance work, as well as engineering fields similar to the specialty, including renewable energy and thermals.

The Department adopts a general message based in its general form on the framework of technical education in Iraq, a special message that it is keen on achieving to highlight the department’s face of excellence. The general objectives are focused on graduating national engineering technical staffs with a high level of education and technical training who are able to absorb modern technology systems in their field of specialization, as well as contributing to find the most appropriate practical solutions to various problems of the surrounding environment and supporting the process of technical development to keep pace with rapid global technical developments.

Goals

Expanding technical specialization according to the need of the labor market and technical development. Using computer and Internet technologies in education and training. Activating the relationship with the public and private sectors in the field of training. Following up on the development of curricula for academic lesson plans, both theoretical and practical, through coordination with the corresponding public and private specializations. Focusing on practical training aspects and then updating laboratories and specialized workshops. Meeting the needs of the labor market and community for qualification and training.

Admission system

Students are admitted into the college through three inputs:
1. Graduates of the general secondary school, scientific branch and they represent the main source of the department.
2. Students who graduate from technical institutes.
3. Students who graduate from industrial vocational preparatory schools

Studying system

Study in the Department adopts the annual academic system, and the duration of study is four academic years, during which the student receives theoretical and practical lessons, and students are systematically trained in the second and third stages during the summer vacation in the specialized laboratories.

Granted Certificate

Graduates of the Department are awarded a bachelor’s degree in refrigeration and air conditioning engineering technology, which represents part of the general specialty of mechanical engineering.
Their applications are accepted to join the Iraqi Engineers Association and the awarded certificate qualifies them to be applied engineers, the graduates have the right to apply for postgraduate studies inside and outside the country.

  • العمل على رفع كفاءة العاملين في أجهزة الدولة ومؤسسات القطاع العام والخاص والتعاوني وذلك من خلال المساهمة في تنظيم برامج تأهيل والتدريب أثناء الخدمة وإعادة التأهيل أيضاً بحسب احتياجات ومتطلبات سوق العمل.
  • توطيد العلاقات مع الجامعات والكليات التطبيقية ومؤسسات التدريب المهني وغيرها من الجهات ذات العلاقة لتحقيق التكامل.
  • الانفتاح على المجتمع وتبني دورا ايجابيا في التدريب والتأهيل وإعادة تأهيل الإفراد.
