Department of Anesthesia Techniques

Anesthesia is the management of pain and relief of  consciousness to allow a medical procedure to be performed safely and effectively. Anesthesia techniques include several approaches, including general anesthesia, local anesthesia, and Euclidean anesthesia. These techniques require extensive knowledge of physiology and anesthesia, as well as precising technical skills to adjust drug doses and monitor body functions during the surgical procedure.

The Department of Anesthesia Technology aspires to be one of the leading departments within the higher education system in Iraq in the educational and research fields, which contributes effectively in improving society and providing it with productive and creative energies.


Providing high-quality education within an appropriate educational atmosphere to keep pace with the development taking place in the field of specialization, which is reflected in the student’s preparation to be highly qualified to meet the requirements of the labor market in the public and private sectors and to be able to create new job opportunities to support the community and actively participate in the transfer of technology.


• The department aims at preparing health personnel specialized in anesthesia and intensive care techniques to work in health institutions, where the graduate prepares the patient before performing the surgical operation in the operating room. • This includes giving the patient the appropriate doses of anesthesia, in cooperation with the anesthesiologist, and carrying out the tasks of intensive care for the patient and everything related to the operation and maintenance of equipment and anesthesia equipment and anesthetic materials.

The department aims at preparing health personnel specialized in anesthesia and intensive care techniques to work in health institutions. The graduate does the following:

1- Preparing the patient before performing the surgery in the operating room.
2- Giving the patient the appropriate doses of anesthesia.
3- Carrying out intensive care tasks for the patient.
4- Operating and maintaining anesthesia devices and equipment.
5- Dealing with anesthetic materials used to anesthetize the patient.
